Out-of-Network — But That's Often Better Than You Think

Speech Me Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network provider. We do not bill any plan directly. Instead, we provide detailed superbills — itemized receipts with all the codes your plan needs — that you submit to your PPO plan for out-of-network reimbursement.

Many families with PPO plans receive 50–80% reimbursement for out-of-network speech therapy. HMO plans typically do not cover out-of-network care, but every plan is different.

We also accept Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funds as a form of payment for evaluations and therapy sessions.

Being out-of-network also means we can focus entirely on what's best for your child — not what a plan administrator decides to authorize. There are no limits on session frequency, no predetermined timelines, and no justifications required for clinical decisions.

How to Check Your Benefits

Call the member services number on the back of your plan card and ask:

  • "What are my out-of-network speech therapy benefits?"
  • "Do I have an out-of-network deductible? Has it been met?"
  • "What percentage of the allowed amount will you reimburse?"
  • "Is prior authorization required?"
  • "What is the CPT code for speech therapy?" (98966, 92507, 92508)

Payment Methods

  • Credit & debit cards
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)

Maximize Your Healthcare Dollars

Speech therapy is a qualified medical expense. HSA and FSA funds can be used to pay for evaluations and therapy sessions — making care more accessible for your family.

Not sure how much you have available? Check your HSA/FSA balance before scheduling and consider using those funds before year-end to avoid forfeiting unused amounts.

Right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law (the No Surprises Act), you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of the expected costs of your care before your appointment. This estimate will include the anticipated cost of services we reasonably expect to provide.

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. For more information, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

We provide Good Faith Estimates upon request. Please contact us and we'll prepare one for you before your first appointment.

Questions About Cost?

We want to help you figure this out. Call us and we'll walk you through your options, what to ask your plan provider, and how to make therapy work within your budget.
